MBU Takes on Fierce Competition in Second Week of Gameplay: (RV) MoVal & (RV) Campbellsville

MARSHALL, Mo. – Coming off their 2-0 win on Saturday (Aug. 24), Missouri Baptist University Women's Soccer will face Missouri Valley College today (Aug. 28) at 7:00 p.m. on the Vikings' home field.

MVC women's soccer was ranked 24th in the NAIA Coaches Top 25 Preseason Poll. This week, Missouri Valley is receiving votes in the coach's poll. In an evenly-matched game, MoVal fell to (RV) St. Ambrose University 2-0 in the first match of their season (Aug. 21). On Saturday (Aug. 24), the Vikings displayed an impressive performance against (10) Columbia College, but ultimately lost 1-0 against the higher-ranked team.

The past six times MoBap and MoVal have faced each other, MVC has taken the win. In their most recent match in 2021, MBU lost 5-0.

Since 2021, the Spartans have gained several talented players who may be able to help change the course of history. Using momentum from their most recent win, MoBap hopes to cause their first upset of the week.

ST LOUIS – The Spartans play Campbellsville University on Saturday (Aug. 28) at 6:00 p.m. This match will be hosted by MBU on Spartan Field as Missouri Baptist's home opener.

Campbellsville Women's Soccer is currently receiving votes in the coach's poll, and they are 2-0 on the season. In their first match on Aug. 17, they beat Tennessee Wesleyan 2-1. The Tigers also delivered a strong performance against Shawnee State University, defeating them 6-0 on Wednesday (Aug. 21).

MBU has yet to beat CU, losing just 2-1 in their most recent match during the 2023 season. The Spartans are hungry for a redemption game. They hope to upset Campbellsville along with MoVal this week.
