Spartans Search for Win at Home against Wildcats

ST. LOUIS - On Wednesday (Sept. 11), the Missouri Baptist University women's soccer team will face Culver-Stockton College on Spartan Field, where they hope to record a win at home.

The past four games, MBU has played nationally ranked teams, resulting in losses.

Coach Deno Merrick says, "We have played some very tough opponents. We knew what we were in for, but we had some things go against us (injuries, illnesses, etc.) and we didn't show up in certain moments during those games where we needed to. In the game here on Wednesday, hopefully we will be able to learn from those past mistakes and use those to be better in difficult moments."

He goes on to say, "We are optimistic about the game against Culver-Stockton. They have been on a good run, and they are a good team, but for us it's a new game, new opponent, and a new opportunity for us to play at home."

Culver is currently 4-0-1 on the season, the tie being against St. Ambrose University, who is receiving votes in the national poll. They have 16 goals and 11 assists in five games, and their starting goalie has a save percentage of .708.
