MCPHERSON, Kan. – Missouri Baptist University golf took fourth place at the Central Kansas Classic hosted by Central Christian College on Tuesday. The men's program finished tied for fourth out of 14 teams while the women took fourth of seven.
The men's team finished with 594 strokes at 34 over par. They were 22 strokes off first-place Iowa Western Community College. The women shot 720 collectively, 26 strokes behind Southwest Christian in third.
Sam Beggs finished first for the Spartans, shooting five over for the tournament to take 10
th individually. He opened round one with a 72 and finished up the second with a 73. Behind him was
Luke Gardner who went 77-69 to place 14
th overall.
Collin Weinhaus, Logan Malot, and
Ethan Hanaman rounded out the field with a 150, 154, and 162, respectively.
Elena Montalban rebounded from an 88 in round one with an 84 in round two to finish 11
th overall at 172 (+28).
Priscila Rodriguez took 23
rd at +35 over the two rounds, with
GG Rogers and
Chelsea Young signing their final card at +40 and +44.
The men's program continues the fall season at the NAIA Midwest Invitational at TPC Deer Run in Silvis, Ill., on Sept. 23. The women do not compete again until Oct. 7, at the Central Baptist College Fall Invitational in Cabot, Ark.
