KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Missouri Baptist University women's tennis picked up its first victory of the season, 4-3, over Truman State University on Friday.
"It was a true team win," said head coach Scott Goodyear. "We needed everyone to compete to pull it out. I'm proud of how we fought until the end."
After splitting the first two doubles matches, the Spartans' No. 2 doubles pairing of Yvonne Shannon and Mariana Azevedo secured the doubles point for MBU with a 7-6 (4-0) victory, giving the Spartans a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
