CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - On Saturday (Jan. 11), the Missouri Baptist University men's and women's track and field teams participated in the SEMO Redhawk Invitational. Newcomer Shaun Roberts placed first in the 55m dash and other Spartans set new MBU track and field records.
Roberts, who is in his first season of collegiate track and field, set a Missouri Baptist men's track and field record in the 55m dash with a time of 6.45. Fellow freshman Cortlen Johnson is now second at MBU in the dash with his time of 6.50.
Also for men's track and field, Camden Woolbright sits at three in MBU's history of running 55m hurdles, placing second overall at the invitational with a time of 8.00. Sam Woodson (8.34) is now fifth at Missouri Baptist for hurdles as well.
On the women's side, Mia Duncan performed well in the mile run, landing in third place overall with a time of 5:20.32. Angela Ward (1:03.34) placed third in the 400m dash, and freshman Elizabeth Burgan finished third in the 800m.
The Spartans will compete again on Saturday (Jan 18) at the I-55 Meet in Bloomington, Ill at Illinois Wesleyan University.
