ST. LOUIS — Missouri Baptist University track and field competed in a pair of meets Saturday, splitting its squad between the Coach Richard Alsup Invitational at Northwest Missouri State and the IWU Coach Shoe Invitational at Illinois Wesleyan.
At the Coach Shoe Invitational, the Spartans turned in multiple scoring performances, highlighted by a win in the women's 3,000-meter run from Camrin Watkins, who captured first place in 11:04.29. Noelle Reed added points for MBU with a third-place finish in 11:40.00, helping the Spartans total 26 points on the women's side.
In the women's sprints, Alley Busch placed 11th in the 200-meter dash (29.80), while Kenleigh Lange also competed in the event. Lange later posted a 4.87m mark in the long jump.
On the men's side in Bloomington, MBU finished third in the team standings with 37 points. In the throws, the Spartans had three athletes place inside the top eight in the shot put, led by Warren Gann (sixth, 13.19m), Logan Howard (seventh, 12.28m) and Roko Rowley (eighth, 12.25m).
Meanwhile, at the Coach Richard Alsup Invitational in Maryville, MBU competed across a full slate of events inside Hughes Fieldhouse. Clayton Schneider paced the Spartans in the men's 3,000-meter run with an 8:58.98 finish, while TaMari Allen posted a 16-03.00 mark in the women's long jump and also ran 8.04 in the 60-meter dash prelims.
In the men's long jump, William Manning led MBU with a best mark of 19-07.50, and the Spartans also saw action in the men's 200-meter dash with efforts from Malakai Mays and Elias Newberry.
