ST.LOUIS—The Missouri Baptist women's wrestling team hosted the Quincy University Hawks for senior night, during which
Josette Partney,
Emma Schreiber, and
Anastasia Hardin were recognized for their contributions to the program.
Each senior was recognized before the start of the dual. Partney, a native of Ellisville, Mo., is currently ranked No. 9 in the country in the 160-pound weight class. Partney is a three-time All-American for the Spartans, where she placed 7th twice and finished 4th last year at the NAIA National Championships. Partney is also a two-time conference champion in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Sooner Athletic Conference also tabbed Partney as Wrestler of the Week this past week.
Schreiber, a Kirkwood, Mo. native, has been ranked as high as No. 17 this season at 180 pounds. She is a returning national qualifier for the women's squad after she captured a fourth-place finish at the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament last season. To aid her ranking, Schreiber also placed sixth at the Waldorf Open earlier this season.
The last senior recognized was
Anastasia Hardin, a native of Colton, Calif. Hardin consistently appears in the rankings, with her highest ranking being No. 8 at 145 pounds. Hardin is also a returning national qualifier for the Spartans after placing fifth at the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament last season. Hardin also claimed a weekly honor from the Sooner Athletic Conference earlier this season with an undefeated weekend at the Waldorf University Open.
However, the night did not favor the Spartans, as Quincy picked up the 34-14 road victory. The Spartans did not start well, as they were down 14-0 early.
Chloe Herrick put some points on the board after she captured the first-period fall over Autumn Van Bremen. Then, after a couple of forfeits and a fall, the senior
Josette Partney took care of business with an 11-0 technical fall late in the first.
Freshman
Abby Chandler rounded out the night with a barn burner at 207. Trailing at the break, Chandler put two and two together to capture the fall early in the second.
The Spartans look to bounce back as they travel to Fort Wayne, Ind., to compete in the Indiana Tech Open this Saturday, January 25, 2025. Wrestling will start at 9 a.m.
