ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University men's basketball dropped its third straight game Saturday afternoon, falling 67-63 to Hannibal-LaGrange University despite holding an eight-point halftime lead.
With the loss, the Spartans fell to 8-12 overall, 5-5 on the road, and 5-5 in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play.
Breven McMullen led MBU with 16 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Two other Spartans scored in double figures: Austin Lewis tallied 12 points, five rebounds, one assist, and one block, while Courtland Soll added 11 points, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
The Spartans shot 40.8% from the floor and 35% from beyond the arc. They converted 76.2% of their free throws. MBU's largest lead of the game was nine points, with just under 16 minutes remaining, before the Trojans completed their comeback.
Hannibal-LaGrange shot 39.6% from the field and 28.6% from three-point range in their come-from-behind victory.
The Spartans held a 33-25 lead at halftime, but HLGU shot 50% in the second half compared to MBU's 37.5% to overcome the eight-point deficit.
MBU returns to action Thursday with a home game against Mission University. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
