MBU Improves to 2–0 With Tough Road Win at Brescia

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Missouri Baptist University men's basketball improved to 2–0 on Tuesday night, closing strong to secure an 83–74 road victory at Brescia University and complete the season's opening two-game stretch undefeated.

The Spartans used a dominant night in the paint and on the glass, finishing with a 56–38 scoring edge inside and a 50–38 rebounding advantage.

MBU shot 44.6 percent from the field and turned 16 offensive rebounds into 12 second-chance points while holding the Bearcats to 38.8 percent shooting overall.

Javaris Moye paced the Spartans with 15 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, while Tristan Wiggins added 17 points, including a pair of threes and five free throws.

Merquiche Lewis matched Wiggins with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, continuing his efficient start to the season, and Tyson Williams chipped in 11 points and five boards with two steals.

Isaiah Dixon delivered a standout performance inside, posting a 12-point, 14-rebound double-double with three blocks to anchor the defensive effort.

Preston Fortner again served as the offensive facilitator, handing out six assists and collecting two steals.

MBU held a 38–36 halftime lead and built separation midway through the second half, extending its advantage to as many as 15 with 11:38 remaining.

The Spartans' physicality and depth around the basket proved decisive down the stretch, helping secure the program's first road win of the season.
