ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University right-handed pitcher
Carter Sabol won American Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week after tossing five shutout innings over the weekend in California.
Â
The graduate student from the University of Purdue Fort Wayne made his Spartan debut on Friday afternoon against Providence Christian College on the campus of The Master's University in Santa Clarita, Calif. The righty went five innings allowing no earned runs, one hit, and four walks with five strikeouts to pick up the win.
Â
He worked around leadoff walks in each of the first two innings and did not allow his first hit until there was one out in the bottom of the fourth. He ended the day with perhaps his best inning of the outing with a 1-2-3 fifth frame and two punchouts.
Â
Sabol and the Spartans are back at it on the road in Hattiesburg, Miss., where they will split four games against No. 9 William Carey University and Campbellsville University (Ky.). Â Â
