HATTIESBURG, Miss. – No. 16 Missouri Baptist University baseball improved to 5-3 and ended the Mississippi trip with a 4-2 win over Campbellsville University on Saturday. The Spartans were led by a strong outing from
Sam Myers who picked up the win with 6.1 innings while allowing two earned runs on five hits and three strikeouts.

MBU baseball took the lead in the top of the first inning after an error allowed
Kevin Watkins to score. The Tigers responded with a run in the bottom of the second, but MBU opened up a three-run lead in the third.

Jakob Kouneski walked to lead off the frame,
Blayne Yarger singled, stole second, and a wild throw allowed pinch runner Watkins to score to put the Spartans up 2-1.
Cole Robinson put a ball in play to force home a run and a few batters later
Marcus Graham made it 4-1 on an RBI fielder's choice.

Outside of a solo run in the second, senior starter
Sam Myers shut down the Campbellsville offense and kept them to one run into the top of the final inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, Myers got Yosuke Fujie to ground out to second base before allowing a pair of singles. Elliot Veisauydra was called in out of the bullpen and walked the first batter he saw to load the bases.

The junior Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, picked up a swinging strikeout but a run scored when the pitch got away. With the tying run on second base, Veisauyadra got Bret Bowers swinging to strand the runners and pick up his first save in a 4-2 final.
