ST. LOUIS - Missouri Baptist took advantage of poor pitching in game one against Hannibal-LaGrange as they scored 19 runs in just four innings, leading to a 19-2 victory over the Trojans.

Sam Myers did his thing in the top of the first as he got the squad back in the dugout with a chance to take the lead following a three-up-three-down inning featuring two strikeouts.

Missouri Baptist drew six walks their first time through the order as they flipped the lineup back to the top with only one away in the inning. Jakob Kouneski and Dominic Palma each picked up two-RBI singles, helping the Spartans gain a 7-0 lead after the first frame.

The Spartans kept the pedal on the metal in the second inning as they scored six more runs. Blayne Yarger and James Jett hit back-to-back homers to bring home four of the six.

Lucas Lefebvre joined in on the homerun party with a solo shot of his own in the third inning to make it 14-0.

In the fifth inning, Missouri Baptist gained five more runs, featuring two-RBI hits from Lefebvre and Palma.Â

The Trojans were able to scratch across two runs before the game was over, but MBU came away with their third AMC victory of the week, 19-2.

The Spartans did damage at the plate throughout the day with runners on base, making Hannibal-LaGrange pay for putting runners on the basepaths.

The Spartans were in the bottom of the sixth in the second game of the doubleheader when it was postponed to Monday, Mar. 3, before the scheduled doubleheader against Hannibal-LaGrange. Missouri Baptist was up 15-1 when the game was pushed back.
