No. 23 MBU Baseball Secures Series Win Over Mission on Saturday

OZARK, Mo. – No. 23 Missouri Baptist University baseball won two games on Saturday at Mission University to help them claim the four-game set 3-1. The Spartans rode six strong innings from Carter Sabol in game one to a 9-2 win and followed up with an offensive outburst in a 19-3 game two victory.

Game One Recap
Graduate transfer Carter Sabol toed the rubber in the first game and gave the Spartans six innings of two-run baseball, including nine strikeouts and six hits allowed. His lone runs allowed came in the second inning on an RBI single and in the sixth on a groundout with the bases loaded.

Jayden Orozco started the scoring with an RBI double to right field that plated Jakob Kouneski. Carlos Hidalgo singled him in later in the inning to increase the lead to 2-0.

In the third inning, Blayne Yarger and Cole Robinson hit solo home runs to start things. Kouneski was hit by a pitch a batter later, stole second, and scored on a double to center by Hidalgo. Lucas Lefebvre got the job done and singled home a fourth run to open a 6-1 advantage.

MBU added three more in the sixth before Skout Rallo completed the 9-2 victory with a scoreless ninth inning that included two strikeouts.

Game Two Recap
MBU was held off the scoreboard until the top of the third. They busted out for five runs on five hits, highlighted by RBI triples from Dominic Palma and Orozco.

They held onto a 5-0 lead until the fifth and posted nine runs and seven hits on the Mission bullpen in the frame. Palma, Yarger, James Jett, Hidalgo, and Tyson Ludwig all had RBI in the frame. The Spartans tacked on five more in the seventh, fueled by a three-RBI triple from Marcus Graham.

Teague Robertson won on the mound in game two, his fifth of the year, after hurling five scoreless with five strikeouts, three hits, and two walks. Tony Caldwell gave up a trio of runs and picked up two strikeouts in the sixth before Elliot Veisauyadra closed the door with two strikeouts in a scoreless seventh.
