Clean Sweep in Tulsa: Spartan Tennis Rolls Through Final Conference Matches

TULSA, Okla. – Missouri Baptist University men's and women's tennis both closed out conference play on a high note Friday, picking up a pair of victories each against Texas Wesleyan University and John Brown University.

Men's Tennis

With the two wins, the Spartan men improved to 14-6 overall, 4-1 in conference play, and 3-1 in neutral site matches.

Against Texas Wesleyan, the doubles teams of Luca da Silva Ebenriter/Sebastian Junghanns, Strahinja Radanovic/Arkhip Tokmakov, and Lucas Kzam/Filip Petrovic all notched victories to give MBU a doubles sweep and the early point.

In singles, Ebenriter, Radanovic, and Tokmakov each earned wins to push the Spartans to a 4-2 victory over the Rams.

Later in the day against John Brown, the tandems of Ebenriter/Junghanns and Radanovic/Tokmakov took care of business in doubles to secure the opening point once again.

MBU rode the momentum into singles play, where Ebenriter, Kzam, and Tokmakov all claimed wins to complete a 4-0 sweep of the Golden Eagles.

Women's Tennis

The Spartan women picked up a pair of victories today as well, improving to 11-7 overall, 4-1 in conference play, and a perfect 4-0 in neutral matches.

In their matchup with Texas Wesleyan, doubles tandems Nirva Patel/Yvonne Shannon and Polina Agapitova/Mariana Azevedo clinched the doubles point.

Agapitova, Jocelynn Carmody, Teodora Iacob, and Azevedo followed with singles wins to give the Spartans a 5-2 win to open the day over Texas Wesleyan.

Against John Brown, MBU again came out strong, earning the doubles point with wins from Patel/Shannon and Agapitova/Azevedo.

Agapitova, Shannon, Carmody, and Azevedo each secured wins in singles, helping the Spartans cruise to a 5-0 victory over John Brown.

MBU combined for four team wins on the day between the men's and women's squads. Leading the charge was Ebenriter, who went 3-0 across singles and doubles and is now 12-5 at the No. 1 singles spot this season.

Both teams are back in action Tuesday as they will play Maryville University on the road.
