OLATHE, Kan. – No. 23 Missouri Baptist University took down (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene University 12-7, backed by five RBI from Kevin Watkins.

MBU used nine different pitchers on Tuesday, who were backed by a three-hit, five-RBI performance from junior outfielder Kevin Watkins. The Spartans were aided by a six-run first inning and six total errors from the Pioneers.
Cole Robinson and
Jakob Kouneski both singled home runs in the first inning before Watkins followed up a few batters later with a two-RBI knock with the bases loaded. A balk and an infield single from
Tyson Ludwig made it 6-0 heading into the bottom of the first.
MNU got a run back in each of the first two frames before surrendering a three-run shot to Watkins in the fifth inning, scoring Kai Gray and Robinson. MBU added one in the eighth and two in the ninth to end a 12-7 win after the Pioneers scored five runs in the final four frames.
On the mound, Joseph Giunta, Taylon Laxson, Elliot Veisauyadra, and Greg Ryun all posted scoreless frames in their inning of work.
