Cole Robinson drove in a pair of runs to back 6.1 innings from
Gus Lucas to help Missouri Baptist University to a 4-1 win over Central Baptist College in the American Midwest Conference Tournament on Wednesday afternoon.

MBU moves on to play the winner of Columbia College and Mission University at 3 p.m., on Thursday, May 1.

The first-seeded Spartans defeated the fourth-seeded Mustangs with a 4-1 final score after taking a 2-0 lead with runs in the fourth and fifth innings, followed by two insurance runs in the seventh inning.

Lucas took the ball on the mound and worked around a leadoff baserunner in the top of the first. He tossed six scoreless before leaving a runner on first base with one out in the top of the seventh, who later came around to score. He ended his day with one earned run, one walk, and three strikeouts.

Cole Robinson stepped up with a runner in scoring position and sent a ball into right field to put MBU ahead 1-0. He also doubled off the wall in the seventh to bring in
James Jett to extend the lead to 4-1.

Zach Peters got the call in from the bullpen and stranded the bases loaded with a flyout to centerfield to preserve a 2-1 lead at the time. He then set down the next six batters he faced in consecutive order to earn his fourth save of the season. Â
