LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – No. 23 Missouri Baptist University baseball picked up the final two wins in a sweep of Central Baptist College on Tuesday afternoon. The Spartans got behind a strong start from
Gus Lucas for a 5-2 game-one win before exploding for an 11-4 win in game two.

Game One Recap
Gus Lucas took the ball for the Spartans in game one and gave his club five solid innings, allowing two runs, no earned, with three strikeouts and two walks.
Jayden Orozco set him up in the top of the first inning for his third win of the season with a two-out, bases-loaded walk to make the score 1-0.

CBC took the lead in the bottom half of the first inning on two hits and an error before MBU struck for three in the fourth.
Tyson Ludwig tripled home a run with a drive to center,
Dominic Palma brought him in with a sacrifice fly, and
Cole Robinson singled home another run to widen the gap to 5-2.

Lucas worked around a leadoff single in the fifth before ending his day as the pitcher of record.
Greg Ryun set the side down in order in the sixth and
Zach Peters notched his second save of the season with a scoreless seventh.

Game Two Recap
James Jett carried the offense to an 11-4 game two victory with a trio of hits, including a three-run home run, five RBI, and two stolen bases.
Jakob Kouneski and
Carlos Hidalgo each drove in a pair of runs as well.

Tony Caldwell got the start on the rubber and went five innings allowing just one hit and one unearned run with three walks and four strikeouts. Left-handed
JD Whitter pitched a scoreless sixth inning with a pair of punchouts and Elliot Veisauydra closed the game out in the seventh.

The MBU offense scored in every inning up until the sixth, with crooked numbers in the third, fourth, and fifth innings.
Blayne Yarger drove in a run in the fourth in front of Jett's three-run bomb to center. In the fifth, a fielder's choice from Jett brought in another run before a two-run double from Kouneski.

The Mustangs plated one in the second and three in the seventh but were ousted with a runner in scoring position for an 11-4 final.
