MBU Women's Lacrosse has Four Named to NAIA All-American Teams

ST. LOUIS  – Missouri Baptist University women's lacrosse produced four NAIA All-Americans, announced Thursday (May 8th).

Lydia Cornett, Sophia Zegar, and Mack Miller each earned All-America honors for the second time in their careers. Zegar and Cornett were put on the first team while Miller was selected for the second team. Olivia Julian earned the distinction for the first time in her career as well, with a placement on the NAIA Third Team. 

Cornett posted a record-breaking season, producing 75 goals, 63 assists, and 138 points. This added to her numerous record-breaking statistics, including the most points in program history, sitting at 356. The attacker also produced 56 ground balls, 25 caused turnovers, and 129 draw controls throughout the season. Cornett finished her career ranking third nationally in points, goals, and shots, and second in assists.

Zegar tallied 20 caused turnovers, 20 ground balls, and 29 draw controls. The Pattonville High School product also recorded two goals against Midland and added two assists. Zegar ends her defensive career with a total of 40 caused turnovers and 58 ground balls.

Miller recorded 95 points throughout the season, including 67 goals and 28 assists. This added to her 228 career points. The attacker now ranks second for most points in program history, sitting behind Cornett. Miller completed the season, ending fourth in the Heart of America conference for points and fourth in the nation for shots.

Julian tallied 65 goals, as well as seven assists. Julian had a large impact in the midfield, recording 70 draw controls, 23 caused turnovers, and 49 ground balls. The midfielder ends her career sitting fifth in the nation for shots.

The four All-Americans helped their team with a 13-7 season while producing 660 points as a group. The Spartans made a run to the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship game and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament for the third straight year.
