SAVANNAH, Ga. — Missouri Baptist University Women's Lacrosse is set to play No. 1 Keiser University in the first round of the NAIA Women's Lacrosse National Tournament on Wednesday (April 30) at 8 a.m. (CT).
After receiving an at-large bid, MBU is entering the tournament 13-6 overall and 7-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. A few of their most impressive games have been against (4) Cumberlands University, (9) Indiana Tech, and (10) Marian University. Missouri Baptist also produced eight HAAC all-conference players, including the Newcomer of the Year.
This is Missouri Baptist's third consecutive appearance at the national tournament. Last year, MBU's Mack Miller earned a spot on the NAIA National All-Tournament team for her performance against (5) Reinhardt University. Missouri Baptist battled hard against the Eagles, who would go on to be the 2024 NAIA National Champions. In fact, MBU produced the best score differential out of all the teams that played Reinhardt in the tournament.
Nationally, Miller and Lydia Cornett hold some of the best statistics in the NAIA. Miller is fifth in goals and third in shots. Cornett is fourth in goals, first in assists, third in points, and second in shots.
Like MBU, Keiser has eight Sun Conference all-conference players. They are currently 15-1 overall, and 7-0 in their conference. A couple of their most impressive games have been against (3) SCAD and (5) Reinhardt. Their only loss was against (7) Life University in their conference championship game. Keiser was ranked first in the NAIA Coaches' Top 10 Poll, and Life was ranked tenth at the time of the upset.
Former NAIA National Champions, the Seahawks are looking to take the title home again in their fourth tournament appearance. Last year, they were eliminated in the first round of the tournament by (4) Cumberlands.
