Spartans Women’s Soccer Looks to Continue Momentum in Away Contests

ST. LOUIS — Missouri Baptist University women's soccer hits the road this week for a pair of matchups, beginning with a Wednesday contest against Central Methodist University, followed by a Saturday clash at Park University.

The Spartans 3-5-1 are coming off a 1-0 win against Grandview University and look to carry momentum into their road matches.  Wednesday's tilt provides a test against Central Methodist's high-powered offense, while Saturday's game will mark the first meeting between Missouri Baptist and Park this fall.

Defense will be key for MBU as the back line works to limit scoring chances while the midfield looks to control possession. The Spartans have spent recent matches pressing high up the field and creating opportunities in the attacking third.

Natalie Gum, a senior captain midfielder, said the team is embracing the challenge of playing two tough opponents away from home.

"From what I have learned and seen, we always start out with a tough preseason just to get comfortable and get to know each other on a high level," Gum starts. "So that way when we get to these conference games, we're ready."

Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. Wednesday at Central Methodist and noon Saturday at Park.
