ST. LOUIS — Former Missouri Baptist University baseball outfielder James Jett has signed a professional contract with the Lake Erie Crushers of the Frontier League, the Crushers announced this week.
A 6-foot-5 outfielder from Louisville, Kentucky, Jett becomes the latest Spartan to reach the professional ranks following a standout 2025 season in the NAIA.
"James was outstanding for us this past spring," head coach Eddie Uschold said. "He had a phenomenal regular season. He punctuated his last year of college baseball with an outstanding postseason and earned first-team All-America recognition. James will do well with the Crushers."
Jett earned ABCA/Rawlings NAIA First Team All-America honors after leading MBU with a .451 batting average across 51 starts. He drove in a team-high 81 runs while adding 21 home runs and 16 doubles, finishing with 79 hits, 69 runs scored and 158 total bases. He posted a .547 on-base percentage and a .903 slugging percentage.
Jett also collected multiple postseason honors, including AMC Newcomer of the Year, All-AMC First Team, Academic All-AMC and AMC Player of the Week (April 14, 2025).
Lake Erie is based in Avon, Ohio, and will open the 2026 season on May 8 at ForeFront Field.
