ST. LOUIS — The Missouri Baptist University men's lacrosse team delivered a historic performance Saturday night, dominating the Missouri Valley College Vikings in a 36–0 victory while rewriting multiple program records in the process.
The Spartans erupted early and never slowed, scoring 15 goals in the opening quarter before adding eight in the second and 10 more in the third to build a commanding lead. The 36 goals set a new Missouri Baptist single-game program record, surpassing the previous mark of 33 against Ottawa University on April 12, 2025.
The night was headlined by a record-breaking performance from John Dahl, who scored 11 goals to set a new program record for most goals in a single game. Dahl broke the previous mark of 10 set by Matt Lash and added two assists to finish with 13 total points.
Joe Busselman followed with eight goals and two assists, while Jake Cordes added three goals and seven assists, tying the program record for assists in a single game.
Missouri Baptist's offense produced chances at a historic pace, recording 81 shot attempts, another new program high.
The Spartans also controlled possession throughout the contest, finishing with 63 ground balls, breaking the previous record of 58 set against Ottawa Braves men's lacrosse on April 12, 2025.
Special teams also played a role in the historic outing. Missouri Baptist scored three man-down goals, surpassing the previous team record of one.
With 12 different scorers, additional offensive contributions came from Ryan Metcalf, who added two goals and three assists, Caleb Ward with two goals and five assists, and Drew Chiodini with three goals. Anthony Fillerup dominated at the faceoff spot, winning 28-of-31 draws and collecting a game-high 24 ground balls.
Defensively, Missouri Baptist limited Missouri Valley to just eight shots on the night. Daniel Heinrich earned the win in goal, making two saves to preserve the shutout.
With the victory, the Missouri Baptist Spartans men's lacrosse improved to 2–5 overall and 1–0 in conference play. They will continue this momentum into next week when they take on William Woods University on Saturday, March 21. Faceoff is set for 5 p.m.
