Carlos Hidalgo was selected as the Heart of America Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week on Monday, March 16, after his performance in a four-game series against Baker University (Kan.) over the weekend.
The senior from La Romana, Dominican Republic, clubbed four home runs and drove in 10 runs as the Spartans took a four-game sweep of the Wildcats at Spartan Baseball Field. He additionally posted a .500 batting average and a 1.920 on-base plus slugging percentage.
Hidalgo opened the series with Baker with a 3-for-4 performance in game one, including two home runs and five RBI. In game two, he tallied a hit in two tries with two runs scored and two walks.
On Saturday, he hit home runs in each game of the doubleheader and drove in five total runs.
The outfielder is currently hitting .362 this season in 13 games with five home runs and 13 RBI.
The conference schedule continues on Friday, March 20, at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kan. The first pitch of the doubleheader is set for noon.
