SPARTANS UNABLE TO CATCH UP IN CHICAGO

Chicago, Ill.- The Missouri Baptist women's basketball team headed to Chicago looking for their second win in a row against Roosevelt University. The team was unable to overcome a 16 point halftime deficit, falling 72-52.

The team wanted to play the game against Roosevelt like they did against Ashford University. The Spartans wanted to get ahead early, force turnovers and play strong defense. MBU grabbed an early 7-6 lead, but that would be the last lead of the half. The Lakers went on a 19-4 run to grab a 14 point lead with six minutes left in the first half.

Missouri Baptist was able to get to within 10 with three minutes to go, but made only one basket in the last three minutes. At half, the Spartans were down 38-22. Roosevelt shot 43% from the field, to MBU's 37.5%.

In the second half, the team knew it needed to hit some quick shots to get back into the game. The Spartans were unable to cool down the hot shooting Lakers, as they shot 44% from the field in the second half. Missouri Baptist shot 21.7% from the field.

Three of the five starters for MBU ended the game in double figures. Lauren Taylor led the team with 12 points and three assists. Janelle Hensold and Andrea Seabaugh each pitched in with 10 points.

The teams record drops to 1-3 on the season. Missouri Baptist will look to get a win in front of the home crowd when they host Fontbonne University on November 22nd at 6:00 p.m.
