Box Score 2 St. Louis, Mo. - The Missouri Baptist softball team won their fifth straight game, by defeating Maryville University 5-2 in game one, and won in nine innings in game two by the score of 7-6.
Starter Jena Trombley continues her domination on the mound, as the freshman pitched a complete game eight hitter, allowing just two runs and striking out four. The team committed five errors in the game and trailed 2-0, going into the top of the sixth.
After Donyelle DeMarse got an RBI narrowing the lead down to 2-1, junior Katie Payne came up to the plate with the bases loaded and crushed a Kristyn Caldwell pitch over the wall, giving the Spartans a 5-2 lead. With the breathing room, Trombley was able to shut down the Saints for the win.
