ST. LOUIS – No. 10 Missouri Baptist University softball continues Heart of America Athletic Conference play at Spartan Softball Field with a doubleheader against William Penn University on Friday and against No. 13 Grand View University on Saturday.
The Spartans enter the week on a nine-game winning streak and moved up to No. 10 in the country in the second
NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll announced on Wednesday.
Over the nine-game winning streak,
Ted Leigraf's club has earned run-rule victories over No. 21 Hope International University and No. 18 St. Thomas University, an 8-0 win over No. 5 Marian University, and opened Heart play with a road doubleheader sweep at Baker University last weekend.
MBU currently ranks ninth in the country with 18 total home runs, led by four each from
Alohilani Bursey and
Miranda Ladson.
Brooklynn Fischer continues to dominate on both sides of the field with a 5-2 record in the circle and a .400 batting average with 18 RBI at the plate.
Kaylie Brake leads the team in pitching wins with a 10-2 record, including a 2.60 earned run average.
William Penn enters Friday with a 12-10 overall record and a 3-1 Heart record. Â They opened conference play on March 13 with a split in a doubleheader at home against Culver-Stockton College, then won both games against Peru State College on March 14.
Grand View enters the week with a 14-6 overall record on an eight-game winning streak. They are 2-0 in the conference after outscoring Peru State 21-0 in a doubleheader on March 13.
