FENTON, Mo. - Missouri Baptist men's lacrosse held DePaul University scoreless in the first half and posted 10 goals in a 10-1 win on Saturday afternoon.
Missouri Baptist (6-6)played well throughout and started the scoring early. At the 11:37 mark of the first quarter, Justin Mueller notched the first Spartan goal of the day. Then, just 30 seconds later, MBU's Ryan Zimmer followed it up with his first goal to give his team a 2-0 lead.
The Blue Demons kept Missouri Baptist at bay for nearly the remainder of the quarter, until senior Brandon Horschig posted the third goal for the Spartans.
Senior Nick Fensom opened up the scoring in the second quarter, netting his first of the day just 1:46 after play resumed. Seven minutes later, Mueller posted his second of the day on a shot from about eight feet out.
After the half, both teams failed to get their offenses going. Missouri Baptist posted the lone goal in the third quarter on a shot by Brad Keel, which gave Missouri Baptist a 6-0 lead heading into the final frame.
The fourth quarter was a completely different story. Just 10 seconds into play, DePaul's Shon Zawloki put the Blue Demons on the board with a slow roller that beat Spartan goalie Ben Bowler.

After the goal, Missouri Baptist took control of the match. Horschig and David Justvig both scored a minute apart as the Spartans put the game away. Justvig, Mueller and Keel all finished with two goals a piece.
Missouri Baptist will head to Chicago next weekend to face Wheaton and Judson College before the conference tournament scheduled for the first weekend of May.
