ST. LOUIS – Ashly Wiedenhoffer leads the Missouri Baptist women's soccer team to its third conference win of the season, as the Spartans defeated Columbia College, 2-1. MBU improves to 5-3-1 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in AMC play.
Columbia College held a 10-6 shot on goal advantage, but Wiedenhoffer was the difference maker. Same Schulze made nine crucial saves to preserve the win for the Spartans.
The Cougars were first to find the back of the net, as Sandra Mendonca scored with 27:55 left in the first half to put Columbia up 1-0.
Missouri Baptist trailed 1-0 at the half, but the second 45 minutes changed the outcome of the game.
With less than 33 minutes left in the contest, Wiedenhoffer took a pass from Brieanne Nickels and blasted the back of the net, tying the game up at 1-1.
Not even seven minutes later, the Spartans would take the lead for good. Megan Huffman found Wiedenhoffer and she would not disappoint. She torched the twine for her second goal of the game, which ended up being the game-winning goal. It was her fifth goal in the past two games.
Anna Recer and Wiedenhoffer each had two shots on goal, while Kathryn Foytlin and Lauren Clinton added one shot on goal each.
Missouri Baptist hosts Culver-Stockton College on Thursday at 1 pm. Deno Merrick and the Spartans will look to improve on their 3-0 AMC record when they travel to take on Park on Saturday at noon.
