ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist women's tennis had a tough battle on Saturday night and lost to a talented McKendree University squad, 8-1.
Missouri Baptist (0-3) faced another tough customer in the Bearcats and struggled throughout. Much like a week ago against Principia, the Spartans picked-up its lone win in No. 6 singles as Nicole Savant won in a tiebreak set over Hannah Harry 3-6, 6-2, 10-5.
Haley Grueber and Savant nearly picked-up another win at No. 3 doubles earlier. The duo dropped a heartbreaker, 9-8, to Alexandria Peach and Allison Harres and was the closest to taking a doubles match.
Missouri Baptist will face another big competitor next weekend when the team travels to O'Fallon, Ill., to face cross-town NCAA Division I opponent, Saint Louis University. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Saint Clair Tennis Club.
