VIKINGS SERVE SPARTANS FIRST LOSS OF 2014

ST. LOUIS – Missouri Valley College's Doug Brown scored four goals on Friday and led the Vikings to a 14-7 win over Missouri Baptist.

MBU trailed for the entirety of Friday's contest, but it was defensive lapses in the second and fourth quarters that led to the loss. Missouri Valley posted 10 goals in those two quarters alone to secure the win for the first-year squad.

Missouri Valley's Jeremy Frosch also had a big game for the Vikings. The junior added a hat trick to the team total en-route to the win.

The Spartans were shut-out in the first quarter and trailed 2-0 heading into the second. It was 4-0 when MBU got on the board for the first time. Mike Howle netted his lone goal, followed by Dan Mollet's first just a minute later to cut the Missouri Baptist deficit to 4-2. This was, however, as close as things got for the home team.

Mollet was the lone goal Spartan goal scorer in the third quarter, as the freshman recorded his second of the day. He later completed his hat trick in the fourth quarter and ended as the leading scorer for MBU.

Aaron McClintock, Alex Short and P.J. Brueggeman also added goal tallies in the match.

With the loss, Missouri Baptist drops to 1-1 on the year as the team gets set to head out on the road for a two-game trip in Minnesota.
