ST. LOUIS - Missouri Baptist University's men's volleyball team improved to 16-5 after tonight's victory versus Holy Names University as the Spartans took the win, 3-0.
The No. 4-ranked Spartans won 25-9, 25-20, and 25-19. In set one, Josh Comer led the Spartans with four kills in the first set. Senior setter, Rob Esser, helped guide the way in set one. Sophomore Andrew Douglas responded in the second set with 11 assists. Ryan Humiston led MBU in set two with five kills. Humiston and Comer both led the defense with digs in set two. In the third set, senior middle blocker, Jordan Pinto, gained control of the match. Pinto had five kills on just six swings in set three.
With the victory, the Spartans improve to 16-5 while Holy Names falls to 1-13. The team travels this weekend to Denver, Colo. For the Johnson Wales Tournament. MBU will return back home March 18, for the rival match versus Park University.
