ST. LOUIS - Women's soccer starts a new season off on September 3, 2014, against Culver-Stockton College.
In the 2013 season the Spartans had a record of 9-8-3 and advanced to the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Semifinals. The team did not advance to the AMC championship round after falling just short to Columbia College in the semifinals. This year the team is working to go all the way to the AMC championships.
With 11 returners the Spartans have the experience on their side and have just as much fresh talent coming in.
Donna Joliff comes to the Spartans as a two year starting forward from St. Louis Community College. "Donna has a very good IQ for the game and can play in any position. She is hard working and we are excited to have her join the Spartans and bring those qualities to the team."
Also transferring from St. Louis Community College is Taylor Geise. Geise was a two year starter for St. Louis Community College and comes to the Spartans as a utility player. "Taylor brings a wealth of experience and is a player that will commit everything she has for the cause. She can play multiple positions and that will allow us to be more creative in every area of the field."
Alexis Kraft an incoming freshman and was a two year junior varsity player at Eureka High School. Kraft plays as a midfielder/forward. "Alexis is a good technical player and very dedicated to learning the game and playing the right way."
Mary Lee is a transfer from Oakland City University where she was a one year starter. "Mary is a transfer student who came in during spring 2014. Mary is a fighter and very good technical player. Adding players of Mary's quality will only benefit the team and the players around her."
Another two year started from St. Louis Community College Lauren Guerrero comes to the Spartans as a midfielder. Lauren also played club soccer for Kopling Kicks Soccer Club and was a two time State Champion and one time Midwest Region Finals. "Lauren is a well-rounded player who fits the type of players we need at MBU."
Incoming freshman Hannah Meinhart was a varsity player all four years of high school at Mascoutah High School. "Hannah is an exciting young player that we are pleased to add to our ranks at MBU."
Also coming from Mascoutah High School is Haley Meinhart. Haley was also on varsity all four years of her high school career. "Haley is the only true freshman goal keeper we are bringing in this year and we are excited to have her join the MBU program."
Hunter Kelemen comes to MBU as a freshman from Pacific High School where she was a four year varsity letterman. "Hunter is a player that is hungry to learn and we are looking forward to her development as a player over the next few years."
Kathryn Kessler who was a redshirt freshman at Evansville University makes another great addition to the team. Kessler also played four years of varsity throughout her high school career at Rosati Kain High School. "Katy is a top goal keeper and is someone we are looking forward to working with over the next four years at MBU."
Kayla Benoit is a goalie who transferred into Missouri Baptist from William Penn University. Through her time at Pattonville High School Benoit won districts three years in a row. "Kayla is a student of the game and is consistently trying to improve her game."
Megan Allen is a midfielder from Oakville High School. Allen is a four year letter winner for Oakville High School. "Megan is a player we are looking forward to working with because she has all the right qualities we look for in a student athlete."
Returning to the Spartan team is Taylor Fath, Lindsay Giacoletto, Argell London, Hannah McElroy, Jamie Morales, Melissa Patchin, Heather Schneider, Chanel Thorpe, Devikka Tittle, and Kristin Voege.
The team starts off the season with three road games: Culver-Stockton College, No. 13 in the coaches preseason poll Martin Methodist, and Graceland University. The Spartans then return home to play No. 24 Benedictine College (Kan.).
Furthering into the season Missouri Baptist starts into conference play in the American Midwest Conference as they take on Hannibal-LaGrange University, Lyon College, William Woods, Columbia College, and Park University.
The Spartans will also be playing other opponents to round out their schedule such as: Central Methodist University, Williams Baptist, Freed-Hardeman, Lindenwood University-Belleville, Benedictine University (Ill.), Saint Ambrose University, and Ashford University.
The Spartans will honor their seniors on the day of their final home game on October 25, 2014, against Park University. The regular season will come to a close on October 29, 2014, against No. 20 Ashford University.
