St. Louis - The Missouri Baptist Women's Tennis team had a solid Saturday, taking one of their two matches at the Principia Tournament in Elsah, Ill.
The day started with the Spartans falling to Principia College 1-6. Nicole Savant was the lone Spartan to pick up a win, winning at #4 singles 6-1, 6-1.
The Spartans bounced back though and took advantage of an extremely young Stephens college team, winning 8-1. The Spartans got off to a great start by taking all three doubles matches (only dropping 7 total games) and never looked back.
In singles, Savant, Haley Grueber, and Lindsey Kuehnel all won convincingly in singles, dropping a combined 4 games. While Nika Juricic and Shelby Mund both won close matches at the top of the lineup. Kathryn Randolph had to retire due to an injury and was the only thing that stood in the way of the Spartans completing a clean sweep.
The Spartans next match will be on February 20th against University of Illinois Springfield, at Creve Couer Racket Club.
