DEPAUL DEALS SPARTANS FIRST LOSS OF SEASON

ST. LOUIS – Under the lights of Michael Ross Stadium, the Missouri Baptist men's lacrosse team started off hot, but fizzled out and fell to conference opponent DePaul University, 8-7, on Saturday night.

The Spartans started the first quarter with a 4-0 run, but DePaul inched its way back into the game and tied the score at five at the close of the half.

MBU came back from the break ready to regain the lead again, but the Blue Devil's captured the lead first. DePaul continue to put up three unanswered goals to put MBU down 5-8 at the end of the third quarter.

Austin Dahl broke the scoring drought for the Spartans in the beginning of the fourth quarter, but MBU couldn't find its way back in the lead as the game closed with DePaul on top for a final score of 8-7.

Aaron McClintock led Missouri Baptist with five goals on nine shots. Dan Mollet and Austin Dahl contributed one goal apiece to the Spartans score.

MBU will take the field again on Monday, March 9, against Aquinas College on CBC field.
