ST. LOUIS – In a closely contested battle, the Missouri Baptist women's tennis team dropped the match to crosstown rival Lindenwood-Belleville, 5-3.
After dropping all three doubles matches, the Spartans rebounded in singles play.
No. 1 Nika Juricic dominated her opponent, 6-1 and 6-1.
No. 5 and No. 6 won for Missouri Baptist as Haley Grueber and Lindsey Kuehnel earned victories. Grueber won her match, 6-2 and 6-3, while Kuehnel won, 6-3 and 6-2.
Lindenwood-Belleville earned a victory at No. 2, as Kathryn Randolph fell, 6-0 and 6-0.
No. 3 Shelby Mund and No. 4 Nicole Savant began their match at the same time.
Mund dropped her match, 6-2, 6-4, which eliminated the Spartan chance at a victory, so Savant's match was ended early. Savant split her match, 6-1 and 2-6, before the two players were called off the court.
Missouri Baptist fell to 1-10 on the season, but will look to get back on the winning track against Saint Louis College of Pharmacy on Friday. First serve is set for 5:00 pm at CBC Courts.
