SPARTAN SEASON ENDS IN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist men's lacrosse team held one of the top offenses in the MCLA at bay, but suffered a tough loss to No. 3-ranked Missouri Valley College in the Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference (GRLC) Championship match, 11-6.

The Spartans (10-8) had a rough first half as the Vikings held MBU to no goals while the team from Marshall, Mo., posted nine goals of their own.

Missouri Baptist came back from the break with renewed energy in the second half as Austin Dahl got on the board (with an assist from Tim Borroff) and ended the scoring drought for the Spartans. MBU continued to build off of that goal and tallied six goals in the second half and held Missouri Valley to two.

Despite the comeback in the second half, the Spartans were unable to make up the deficit and fell to the Vikings 11-6.

"I was happy with the overall performances of our defense holding a high powered offense to just 11 goals" said Head Coach Andy Joly, "Especially junior defenseman Jacob Beckman who held arguably one of the best attackman in the country to just two goals."

Dahl and Chase Hamernick posted two goals apiece. Aaron McClintock and Drake Mossengren also found the back of the net for the Spartans.

Missouri Baptist closed the season with a 10-8 overall record.
