ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University Women's Tennis struggled against the NCAA D-II Lindenwood University (Mo.) Lions on Friday in a 7-2 loss.
Missouri Baptist's Krista Tyson defeated the Lions in doubles and singles. Tyson is now 4-1 in single and 2-0 against NCAA D-II opponents.
The Spartans lost 9-0 in their previous matchup last season. In 2016, they have closed the gap with wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles on Friday.
Cheyenne Anderson proved to be a constant fighter, but fell just short of a singles win 6-3, 4-6, 1-0.
"This was a good match for our girls. Got to face some good competition, plus winning at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles is a huge statement," said Cole Stevenson, Head Tennis Coach. "Also, really proud of Cheyenne. She just wouldn't go away."
Spartans travel to University of Illinois-Springfield (Ill.) on March 4. First serve is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
