ST. LOUIS [BOX SCORE] – The Missouri Baptist men's lacrosse team was unable to pull out the upset over the No. 2 ranked Siena Heights University (Mich.) with a 13-7 loss.
The Spartans (1-2) stayed close to the Saints in the first quarter as the team trailed by only one.
Siena Heights were held MBU in the second quarter as the Saints went on to net four more goals.
After a 7-2 halftime score, Missouri Baptist took the field again with plans to turn things around. The Spartans notched two more goals in the third quarter but they were answered with three goals from the Saints.
MBU continued to close the scoring gap with three more goals in the fourth quarter, but Siena Heights also notched three goals of their own before the final buzzer.
Aaron McClintock, Austin Dahl and Dan Mollet each recorded two goals apiece. Chase Hammernick also contributed to the Spartan score with one goal.
Robert Ates recorded 11 saves and 13 goals against in the matchup.
The Spartans will have some time off before playing on their home field on Friday, March 18 against University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).
