ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist dropped just two courts against conference competitor Lindenwood University - Belleville (Ill.) Tuesdsay in an 7-2 victory.
The Spartans dropped both doubles and singles No. 2, but stayed strong through the match with a solid win.
Lindenwood University - Belleville defeated Missouri Baptist last year, however the Spartans showed their determination and perseverance from last year to this year.
Freshmen Emily Brown, Rafaela Davide and Lindsey Burgess brought their game to the match and took singles No. 3, 4 and 5 respectively with clean sets. The doubles team Krista Tyson and Dani Stevenson continue to show their dominance and took doubles No. 1 8-3.
"This is a big conference win for us. It's a good building block," said Head Coach Cole Stevenson. "We lost to this team last year, so to come out and win convincingly is a great step in the right direction."
The team has put in a lot of work this season and has steadily improved as a result.
The Spartans play at home against Graceland University (IA) on April 25. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
