ST. LOUIS [BOX SCORE] – The Missouri Baptist men's lacrosse team defeated Lindenwood University – Belleville (Ill.) 8-6 on Saturday as the team also took time to honor its seniors in the final home game of the season.
LUB posted two goals in the blink of an eye to start things off in the first quarter. MBU (6-5) countered with two goals of its own, but the Lynx found net once more before the quarter ended.
Missouri Baptist continued at pace as the team recorded two of the four goals in the second quarter.
The Spartans entered the half down just one goal. Lindenwood – Belleville scored the first goal right out of the gate in the third quarter, but MBU then went on a scoring run of four goals through the third and fourth quarter. As the final buzzer sound the Spartans found themselves on top with a two point win.
Austin Dahl and Devin Mayer netted two goals apiece. Griffin Trotter, Dan Mollet, Drake Mossengren and Chase Hammernick each recorded one goal of their own.
Robert Ates had another impressive game in goal with 14 saves on 20 total shots.
At half time the Spartans recognized their six seniors: Aaron McClintock, Chase Hammernick, Andrew Hildebrand, Griffin Trotter, Justin Kucharski and Jacob Beckman for their dedication and hard work to the program throughout the years.
The team will now close out the regular season on the road with five games left. Missouri Baptist will meet St. Louis University (Mo.) next on April 13.
