Greenville, S.C. [BOX SCORE] – The Missouri Baptist men's lacrosse team suffered a tough 15-9 loss to Lourdes (Ohio) on Thursday in the NAIA Invitational quarterfinal.
The Gray Wolves struck first blood but MBU was not far behind with an answer. Lourdes then went on to advance its score with a 4-2 run to end the first quarter.
The Spartans took advantage of a man-up opportunity with the first goal in the second quarter. Missouri Baptist tried to close the scoring gap with another goal but LU went on a 5-1 run for a five point lead.
MBU pushed through the last five minutes of the second quarter to hold the Gray Wolves as the team found net two more times.
The Spartans returned to the field after half time and held Lourdes to only one goal in the third quarter. MBU came out of the quarter with two more goals and outshot the Gray Wolves eight to three.
Although MBU outshot Lourdes by two, LU came back in the fourth quarter to hold Missouri Baptist to no goals while the team netted four more of their own to end the Spartans season with a 15-9 loss.
Dan Mollet led the offense with three goals. Devin Mayer followed closely behind with two goals of his own.
With the loss, Missouri Baptist closed out its 2016 campaign and will return to St. Louis, Mo.
