Box Score ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Haylee Eastridge chipped the ball into the net just over a minute into overtime to give Missouri Baptist a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over LSU-Alexandria Monday afternoon.
The goal was her second of the day and team-high fourth of the season. Eastridge went 1v1 with a defender for roughly 20 yards before chipping the ball over the LSU-A goalie and just under the crossbar.
The win helped the Spartans (2-2) rebound from a loss on Friday to No. 4 Benedictine (Kan.) and gave them some momentum as they head into a four-game roadtrip. The Generals (1-4) dropped their second straight game. They carried a 1-0 lead into halftime, but couldn't hold on.
Lauren Fisher got LSU-A on the board when she headed in a corner kick in the 16th minute off the foot of Sydni Martin. Fisher's first goal of the year put the Generals ahead 1-0.
Despite outshooting the Generals 13-6, the Spartans came up empty in the scoring column in half number one. Eastridge paced the offense with eight shots, including three in the first half. LSU-A nearly extended its lead in the 29th minute, but had a shot hit the post.
Out of the break, MBU made the most of its offensive chances early. Eastridge netted the equalizer in the 49th minute when she took a thru ball from Riley Janvrin and fired it past the keeper.
Janvrin had a quality look at the go-ahead goal in the 62nd minute and hit the crossbar. Neither team could put the game away in regulation, leading to Eastridge's game winner.
LSU-A's first shot of overtime didn't prove to be any trouble for goalkeeper Alex Lair. Lair made six saves on the day and allowed just the one first-half goal. After the shot, Eastridge won the game less than 30 seconds later.
The Spartans next play on Saturday when they take on Grace College in Indiana at 7:00 pm. That starts a four-game stretch away from home in which they will begin conference play. The next home game is set for September 29th against Harris Stowe.
