ST. LOUIS—[BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Men's Lacrosse was back at it early on Saturday morning for a tilt with the Montreat College Cavaliers. The Spartans launched 45 shots in the match in route to a 13-2 victory to move to 2-0 on the season.
After taking down Asbury on Friday afternoon in their season opener, MBU picked up where they left off. An opening goal from sophomore Andy Coulter five minutes in had the navy and white off and running. Austin Dahl then notched his first of the year a little over a minute later to make it 2-0.
The Spartans would add five more in the second quarter and four in the third to enter the final frame with an 11-1 lead. After Montreat added one to make it 11-2, Ben Eder and Alex Todd topped it off for a 13-2 final.
Coulter finished the day as the top man for MBU with two goals and three assists. He leads the team through two games with eight points (5 G, 3 A). Ben Eder posted a hat-trick to bring his season total to four goals. Austin Dahl (2 G, 3 A), Dan Mollet (4 G, 1 A), and Sean Hess (2 G, 2 A) all tallied two goals apiece for MBU. Devin Mayer scored his third of the year as well.
Robert Ates (2-0) started in goal for the Spartans but had a light day, facing just five shots on goal. Junior Alex Lauko saw his first action of the season in a fourth quarter relief effort.
No. 3 MBU will now hit the road for the first time in 2017 with two games in Williamsburg, Ky. next week. The Spartans will take on No. 8 the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) on Thursday, March 2 at 7:30 pm followed by a matchup with No. 5 Siena Heights (Mich.) on Saturday, March 4 at 1 pm.
