ST. LOUIS—[REINHARDT BOX] [KEISER BOX] Missouri Baptist Women's Tennis made strides against a sound, No. 21-ranked Reinhardt (Ga.) squad, but suffered two consecutive losses to begin its Spring Break competition. After dropping a tough 6-3 decision to the Eagles, the team traveled to Florida on Monday, and saw perhaps the best team in the nation. The squad, however, was unable to post a team point in a 9-0 loss to No. 5-ranked Keiser (Fla.).
Missouri Baptist (2-3) picked-up a much needed win at No. 2 singles on Saturday as Krista Tyson won her second singles match of the 2017 campaign. Tyson forced Israli Yasmit Vodavoz to a tiebreak set and snagged a 10-8 win to take the match 6-2, 5-7, 10-8.
The Spartans grabbed a pair of wins against Reinhardt in a forfeit at singles and doubles, before dropping the match 6-3.
Against Keiser, the Spartans faced one of the most talented teams in the nation and got needed experience as the team continues to improve toward the ultimate goal of qualifying for the NAIA National Championship.
The best match of the day for the Spartans came at No. 1 singles as Thais Castiglioni kept pace with Megane Bianco. The junior from Switzerland, however, swept Missouri Baptist's No. 1, 6-4 and 6-3.
Missouri Baptist gets back to it on Tuesday when they take-on another talented Southeaster (Fla.) squad. First serve is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. EST in Lakeland, Fla.
