WOMEN’S TENNIS TAKES CARE OF GRIFFINS

ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist Women's Tennis showed just how dominating it could be on Tuesday. The team put together a commanding performance and defeated Fontbonne (Mo.) 9-0.

Missouri Baptist (2-1) made it look easy in both singles and doubles as the team cruised to a big victory. The No. 1 doubles team of Thais Castiglioni and Krista Tyson did not waste any time getting to work in their lone match of the day. The duo dispatched of Mariana Rogers and Morgan Smith, 8-1 to lead things off for the Spartans.

Dani Jo Stevenson and Ashley Bonine posted the first shutout of the day on the board. The team won at No. 2 doubles 8-0 and secured a doubles advantage for the team.

Bonine, the transfer from University of Missouri played at the No. 1 singles spot and grabbed an impressive 6-2, 6-0 win over Rogers.

Cheyenne Anderson and Emily Brown also helped to post three team points for the Spartans with a pair of wins. Anderson, the junior from Bonne Terre, Mo., won at No. 3 doubles teamed with Brown. Both turned around and won in straight sets in singles to help improve the Spartan record to 2-1 on the year.

Missouri Baptist will continue its road swing on Saturday when they play Reinhardt (Ga.). First serve is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at Bridgemill Tennis Club.
