ST. LOUIS – In its second season as a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) affiliate member and first spring with a postseason, the Missouri Baptist men's lacrosse program has positioned itself as one of the league's elite. Earlier this week, the Spartans defeated Midland University and earned the No. 4 seed for the KCAC Men's Lacrosse Championship which is set to begin on Saturday (April 17).
As a top-four seed, MBU will serve as one of four host sites for Saturday's quarterfinal matchups and will welcome William Penn University to Spartan Field for a 2 p.m. contest.
The Spartans prevailed in a three-team race for the No. 4 seed beating out the Statesmen, who they will see on Saturday afternoon, and Ottawa University. MBU solidified its top-four spot with a come-from-behind win over Midland on Monday to improve to 6-4 overall and 6-2 in conference.
In the last meeting between Missouri Baptist and No. 5 seed William Penn (8-7, 6-4 KCAC), the Spartans held the Statesmen scoreless in the first half leading 6-0, but had to stave off a late comeback from the home team in Oskaloosa in a 10-7 road win.
