PITTSBURG, Kan.- Saturday, Nov 21 Missouri Baptist women's track and field faced off against some tough competition in the NAIA and NJCAA. They participated in the NAIA/JUCO Challenge hosted by Pittsburg State where they were up against 16 other teams.
The team started the day on with field events beginning at 12:30 PM with
Isabella Schreiber and
Alaina Scott representing the team. Schreiber competed in the weight throw and shot put and earned 18
th and 19
th respectively. Scott brought her A game this go around and was able to breeze past her previous record of 3.20 meters in the pole vault and set a brand new PR on her second try, earning first place with a height of 3.30 meters.
Spartans put up some other great performances out on the track, coming from Isabell Rinkenberger,
Mia Reed, and the 4 x 800 relay team.
Rinkenberger, who participated in the 800 meter run, took second with a time of 2:24.80. The sophomore was only 5 seconds behind the first place runner from Texas Wesleyan.
Adrienne Rockette also participated in the 800 and took 10
th with a time of 2:29.31.
Sophomore,
Mia Reed competed in the Mile run along with
Haley Hernandez and
Brooke Heberer. Reed was able to take third place, clocking in at 5:19.95 less than five seconds behind the first place participant. Hernandez (5:57.72) and Heberer (6:04.13) were able to take 11
th and 15
th respectively.
The 4 x 800 relay team of Madison Sargent,
Mattie Noyes,
Brooke Heberer, and
Haley Hernandez were able to place third in the relay with a time of 10:45.95 not far behind second place Southwestern (Kan.).
Another performance to note was Madison Sargent who set a new PR in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:07.31. Overall, MBU women's track and field placed 7
th out of 17 with 30 points.
