Elsah, Ill.- Women's track a field competed in the annual Principia College Relays this weekend (Jan 27-28) with over 20 other teams represented.
Mia Reed and the distance medley relay crew were the standouts for the Spartans this meet as they took home both of the teams first place finishes.
The distance medley relay team consisted of
Isabel Rinkenberger,
Adrienne Rockette,
Mattie Noyes, and
Mia Reed. They took on six other teams and were able to outdo them with a time of 12:55.67. The team was a full 40 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, Missouri S&T.
Mia Reed, who had the only individual gold, placed first in the mile against 32 other runners. She took first with a time of 5:22.41, only a half-step ahead of the second place finisher who clocked in a time of 5:22.68.
Isabel Rinkenberger was not far behind Reed as she took third with a time of 5:23.90, setting a new personal record. Brook Heberer also set a new PR in the mile, timed at 5:56.31 taking 13
th.
Other top three finishes come from the 4x400m relay, 4x800m relay and
Alaina Scott. The 4x400m team was once again made up of Rinkenberger, Rockette, Noyes, and Reed. They were able to secure second out of nine with a time of 4:24.78. The 4x800 relay team of
Adrienne Rockette, Madison Sargent,
Brooke Heberer, and
Haley Hernandez came in third only five seconds behind second place clocking in at 10:50.59.
Alaina Scott took third for the second year in a row at the PC Relays with a height of 3.25.
Madison Sargent and Mia Ollermann were the other top ten finishes during the meet. Sargent earned seventh place out of 21 in the 500m dash with a time of 1:29.14. Ollermann was able to overcome 25 other opponents in the 300m dash as she took eight with a time of 44.97. Though she didn't finish in the top half of the participants,
Brianna Sansoucie was able to earn a new PR in the 60m dash, clocking in a time of 8.70.
The Spartans will mark their halfway point in the season at the Illinois College Jim Green Invite on Feb. 4 in Jacksonville, IL.
