Rolla, Mo.- The Spartans kicked off Outdoor Track & Field season this weekend on March 24
th. The women's track team participated in the two-day meet- the Missouri S&T Miner Invite. Out of the 18 teams present, MBU placed 12th.
There was a total of six top ten finishers, of those
Alaina Scott and
Brooke Heberer where the only Spartans to make it into the top five. Scott who participated in the Pole Vault, placed fifth with a height of 3.20 meters. Heberer placed fifth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 20:20.67.
Maegan Saleh and Mia Ollermann were two other Spartans who were a place shy of making it into the top five along with Scott. Saleh who participated in the long jump took sixth with a distance of 5.32 meters. The St. Louis native also competed in the 100-meter dash and took 27
th with a time of 13.73. Ollermann took part in both the 100- and 400-meter hurdles. The freshman came away with seventh and sixth place respectively with time of 17.43 and 1:16.19.
Mattie Noyes and Madison Sargent were the other Spartans to find her way into the top ten. Noyes took tenth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:30.26 while Sargent placed eight in the 5000-meter run with a time of 20:56.44.
Perri Hogan and
Vanessa Waidmann were two other Spartans to note as they both secured new personal records. Hogan earned a new PR in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.52. Waidmann who participate in the 800-meter run earned a new PR of 2:41.23.
The team will be splitting up next week (Mar. 31) heading to multiple track meets at WashU, SLU, and CMU.
