KENNETT, Mo. – The 2023 Fall Golf Season got underway on Monday and Tuesday of this week with the Missouri Baptist Spartans Women's Golf team finishing in third place at the WBU Fall Invitational played at Kennett Country Club in Kennett, Mo.
MBU finished 70 shots behind former American Midwest Conference opponent Lyon College, with current AMC foe Central Baptist College outdistancing them by 109 strokes.
Leading the way for MBU individually was newcomer
Ella Dinsdale. The junior transfer from Webster City, Iowa and Iowa Central Community College carded a two-round score of 180 (86/94) to finish eighth among the 18 female golfers entered.
Just behind Dinsdale was another new Spartan,
GG Rogers. The freshman from St. Louis was 11
th with a score of 185 (85/100). Sophomore
Chelsea Young was in 13
th place with scores of 95 and 96 for a combined 191. Sophomore
Brooklyn Howard was the fourth member of the Spartan contingent and shot a 240 (126/114) to finish in 18
th place. Howard's twelve shot improvement from Monday to Tuesday was the largest of any competitor in the field.
The women's golf team will be off until September 29 when they play in the Deschert Fall Classic at Southside Country Club in Decatur, Ill., hosted by Milliken University.
